Leaving Caramoan

The sunrise was still elusive even in Caramoan,. I took a peek outside the tent at five in the morning and the horizon was blanketed with clouds. Knowing that I won’t be seeing the sunrise I went back to sleep.

An overcast morning in Caramoan

Around 7:00 a.m. we woke up, had breakfast and then started to pack our stuffs away. By 9:00 a.m. we were ready to go. A motorbike was our ride to Guijalo Port passing through Centro, the town proper of Caramoan.

Some sections of the road going to Centro from Paniman are still unpaved but improvements are being done. A new bridge is being built to replace an old rickety bailey bridge and some road sections are being paved.

At Centro, we stopped by to check out St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church. The church is a magnificent edifice of red bricks built during the Spanish Era. A rather contemporary interior awaits you inside this century-old church.

After that brief stop at Centro we headed straight to Guijalo Port. We didn’t stay long in Centro since we have to catch the last boat going to Sabang Port that day. First trip to Sabang departs at 7 a.m. and last trip is at 11 a.m.

We still have one hour to spare when we arrived at Guijalo Port. After paying the terminal fee we boarded the boat and took a nap while waiting for the boat to leave port.

At 11 a.m. the boat promptly departed Guijalo Port. The route to Sabang runs along the coast of Caramoan Peninsula. One can see land at the starboard side and Lagonoy Gulf at the port side.

Less than 2 hours later we got off at a sandbar in Sabang.
